Senior Vice President
Julie started her career in the Financial Services industry in 1987, and spent the first seven years working directly with clients as an independent Financial Advisor. She excelled at growing her business working with individuals and small business owners in Michigan. She made a personal decision to move to Chicago, IL in 1994 where she worked for Talbot Financial Services as an internal wholesaler. Julie found her experience as a financial advisor helped her relate to and understand her financial advisors challenges of building a financial planning business. Throughout her ten years working for Talbot, she was promoted to the Internal Sales Desk Manager and then External Wholesaler managing a territory of ten states.
In 2001, a seemingly insignificant event would impact her career over the long term. Talbot moved their broker dealer relationship to Financial Network where Julie learned first hand, the value of the Regional Director system. Quickly realizing there was nothing else like it in this industry, she felt the value proposition and philosophy of putting the client’s needs first matched her own philosophy that she developed when she started her career as a financial advisor.
Julie left Financial Network and Talbot in 2004, to join what’s now known as TD Ameritrade. She worked with the state registered investment advisor firms that managed $25Million or less. Most of these smaller firms also had a broker dealer relationship while they held their fee based assets on TD Ameritrade’s custody platform. It was a great experience and gave her a whole new insight into the fee-based side of the business.
In 2007 Julie re-connected with what is now known as Exemplar Financial Network. When it comes to supporting a financial advisor who is building a business, Exemplar provides training, marketing, technology resources and tools to a community of representatives willing to share ideas with each other. This unique structure, coupled with the back office of a large broker dealer like Cetera Advisor Networks proves to be a good combination. As Senior Vice President of Business Development at Exemplar, her role is to utilize the resources that Exemplar has developed over the past 30 years to provide coaching, and deliver results proven systems, along with business development tools, to help advisors and financial institutions grow profitable and efficient practices.
Throughout the years she’s added numerous licenses and currently holds the series 7, 63, 66, 53, 24 registrations through LPL Financial and Life, Accident and Health Insurance licenses. What excites her most about her current role is the ability to use the skills and knowledge she’s developed since 1987. “I believe that my ability to think strategically and plan tactically are my biggest assets and tools I use every day in my current role.”
On a personal level, she has always loved sports. “I remember even at an early age, having the discipline needed to stay focused. The drive to keep getting better came from within and that same internal drive is with me today.” Basketball was always her passion playing the first two years in college.
Julie earned her associates degree in Business Management and a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Northwood University in Midland, MI. She still remains active in sports, adding softball and golf to her list of passions. Although she doesn’t play softball or basketball competitively any more, you can find her swinging a golf club or playing 18 holes with friends in her spare time. Her favorite way to spend a weekend is with family or friends, keeping up with her two boys, or just doing work around the house.
